The Rio Olympics is over. What is I gon do? This has been my life for the past 3 weeks. I guess I’ll have to start being a productive member of society again. Here’ my top 10 moments!

  1. When the Prime Minister of Japan came out of the Super Mario green pipe during the closing ceremony.

 

  1. Becoming aware of how important Usain Bolt is to the sport of Track and Field and enjoying all of the happiness and positivity he put forth.

 

  1. The Black Women kickin all kindsa bootay in Track and Field

 

  1. The overwhelming and awesome number of Black Brazilians who were a part of the opening and closing ceremonies and Black representation in the volunteers/workers.

 

  1. The accurate (Non-Eurocentric) depiction of the history of Brazil

 

  1. Rooting for the African Diaspora

 

  1. Van Niekerk

 

  1. Experiencing dual identity when it came to country of origin/country of birth. In all of my life I just rooted for the US because that was all that I knew, but now that I know that my matriarchal lineage is from Nigeria I rooted for them too.
