Happy Birthday Ma! Today was a good day. Aside from cakegate and gamegate it was cool. Fantasia did such a good job as Ceelie in The Color Purple. I saw her personality in the character. Didn’t realize until reading the playbill during intermission that Latoya London played Nettie. I just had a senior moment cause I knew that. The role of Harpo had good chemistry w/ the original Sophia. I’m not sure if it was the original Shug Avery. This show is different from the original Broadway version. I don’t remember the lesbian relationship between Shug and Ceelie being that obvious. Great Show! I can now say that I’ve seen the original Broadway play and the Fantasia version. Shit, Shug was alluring. I see why errbody wanted her. And that white suit she had on at the end…flawless!
We went on an adventure around LA t show Ma Hollywood and we ended up taking Sunset all the way through She-sheville. So she got the chance to be in Beverly Hills and Be Air. Then a happening happened. I saw a street sign that said Holmby Ranch Rd. I think I was near that Holmby Hills area I told myself I’d never go near wherever that area was. Just my luck, I happened upon it and it solidified when I then drove past UCLA. God is cruel.
John Williams did the score to the winter Olympics. He gets around. Go Canada! In the closing ceremony they used the torch lighting glitch in the show. A mime got the thing up and running and the Katherine chick that couldn’t light her stick got to light it. I think it’s really cool that Canada recognizes its indigenous people. The US didn’t recognize nary of Native American during any Olympics in my lifetime. The Olympic game montages NBC puts together are awesome, stirring, moving. And along w/ that John Williams’ Music…it’s just so nice.
